Apple September Event Round Up!

September 8, 2016

The main focus of the event was the latest iPhone 7. The initial programs just to pack the time to exactly 2 hours was nothing to shout about and to me is a complete waste of time.

The show started off as it's a first for Apple as Tim Cook was car-pooled to the location (i presume this is pre-recorded) by James Corden of "The Late late Show with James Corden". He sang along with him and they picked up Pharrell Williams along the way.

Tim Cook started off talking about Apple Music (Apple Music Festival is in it's 10th year!), Apple App Store, new Mario game (Super Mario Run) to be launched on the App Store probably around Dec holidays. Then he started describing how Apple helps educations in the US and the ConnectED program. Next up is iWork which simplifies real time collaboration. Sorry nothing to shout about here.

Apple Watch Series 2 is the next product line in the Watch series. Now the watch comes with Built-in GPS, water resistance to 50 meters,  a new lightning-fast dual-core processor and a display that’s two times brighter than before. The GPS feature is a much sought after feature as users always had to bring them phone along when going for a run. With the GPS built in, users can run without the phone and synchronised the data back to their phone.

Pokemon Go will also launch on the Apple Watch and it would be easier to hatch eggs, collect Pokeballs and get alerted to nearby Pokemons! Can't wait for this update!

Nike has also teamed up with Apple to launch Apple Nike Plus edition which is suitable for runners.

As an owner of an Apple Watch, this watch does not tempt me to purchase the latest line. It is very interesting though how the speaker ejects the water out from the latest series. This water proof feature might be good for swimmers to measure their heart rate and maybe time themselves (if an app will be created for this).

The best iPhone ever created was the next in line of the presentation. I managed to capture the screencap of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus key features shown during the keynote.

 iPhone 7 Key Features

  • 12MP Camera

  • 4.7" Retina HD Display with wide colour gamut

  • Optical Image Stabilization

  • 7MP FaceTime HD Camera

  • New Home button

  • Water and dust resistant

  • Stereo Speakers

  • A10 Fusion chip

  • LTE Advanced up to 450Mbps

  • Longest battery life ever in an iPhone

  • iOS 10

 iPhone 7 Key Features

  • 12MP wide-angle and telephoto cameras

  • 5.5" Retina HD Display with wide colour gamut

  • Optical Image Stabilization

  • 7MP FaceTime HD Camera

  • New Home button

  • Water and dust resistant

  • Stereo Speakers

  • A10 Fusion chip

  • LTE Advanced up to 450Mbps

  • Longest battery life ever in an iPhone

  • iOS 10

So sum it all up for the iPhone 7, it will definitely tempt people to switch over from Android.

The camera upgrade is going to be a huge crowd puller and it comes with water and dust resistant to counter what Samsung Note 7 has to offer, this new iPhone 7 plus wins it for me!

The new processor will be able to let me play my favourite games more frequently as it will load faster than ever! Battery life for me is also a very critical upgrade which i cannot live without. With more battery life, i will not need to bring my power bank everywhere i go. Apple need to get 1 over Samsung by also introducing additional security feature like the retinal scan by Samsung Note 7. They might put in something like that for iPhone 7s and iPhone 7 Plus s next year maybe?

With Samsung Note 7 being recalled globally over the exploding battery issue, i am sure Apple brought forward the release date to Sep 16 for majority of the countries,  their sales will surpass Samsung Note 7 initial sales figure before Samsung can even say "ouch".

The new "BLACK" colours are also so stunningly beautiful, it makes everyone want to buy the new Jet Black although there is a small clause inserted which mentioned the below statement.

The high-gloss finish of the jet black iPhone 7 is achieved through a precision nine-step anodisation and polishing process. Its surface is equally as hard as other anodised Apple products; however, its high shine may show fine micro-abrasions with use. If you are concerned about this, we suggest you use one of the many cases available to protect your iPhone.

I am sure people will still ignore this clause and go for the jet black version.

Nonetheless, to end it off, I WANT THE iPHONE 7 PLUS JET BLACK SO BAD!
